Envisioning a Lifestyle Brand, Products and Packaging

baku! is an idea for a consumer goods company focused on providing comforting bedtime products for children who are too afraid to look under their bed.

CHALLENGE

How could I rebrand bedding products to soothe the fears of kids who can’t yet distinguish imagined fear vs. the reality of nighttime?

THE SOLUTION

baku!, a home goods company named after ancient nightmare-devouring mythological characters of Japanese and Chinese origin, would debut with a line based on the visual manifestation of said hero.

My RolE

  • imagined and designed the company concept, visual identity, products and packaging

  • burned the silkscreens of the logo elements and screen-printed them on product prototypes (tissue papers, bags and tshirts)

  • hand-sewed the logo’s symbol into a pillow, the pockets on the shirt prototypes and the bedsheet packaging’s mini-pillows

  • inkjet printed the tags and adhesive products seals and description labels

  • constructed and painted the bedsheet packaging’s wooden frame and acrylic sheet lid

FUTURE

Following the success of the brand’s initial line, additional collections by playfully minded artists would be released.
